Worcester Road, Bromsgrove Footway and Carriageway Improvement Scheme

Below is a short programme for the improvement works to be carried out on Worcester Road in Bromsgrove, please note that the works are weather dependant. Should the weather interupt our programme, we shall update our blog accordingly plus Terry Godwin (Public Liaison Officer) will communicate any changes when on site.

Phase 1
Resurfacing of the footway from High Street junction (by Ladbrokes) to the pedestrian crossings at the Hanover Street / Worcester Road junction on the eastern sode of Worcester Road (the side of the road with Ladbrokes and Neales Garage) - this phase is expected to take 4 weeks.

Phase 2
Resurfacing of the footway from High Street junction to the pedestrian crossings at the Hanover Street / Worcester Road junction on the western side of Worcester Road (the side of the road with the former Blockbuster store) - this phase is expected to take 4 weeks.

Phase 3
Carriageway resurfacing of Worcester Road - this work will be carried out on Sundays only once the footway resurfacing works have been completed - this phase is expected to take 3 Sundays.

The finished footway works will look similar to the footway on the High Street in Bromsgrove, however the slabs will be slightly different.

Worcester Road, Bromsgrove Footway and Carriageway Improvement Scheme

Footway and carriageway improvement works to Worcester Road in Bromsgrove are scheduled to commence on the 6th January 2014 and are being carried out on behalf of Worcestershire County Council. The works are expected to take nine weeks and will be undertaken during the hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The first phase of the works will start outside no.3 (Ladbrokes), and we will work in small sections of the footway (approximately 30m long) on one side of the road to limit disruption; the works will move along Worcester Road towards the junction with Hanover Street. The footway works will then move on to the opposite side of the roadworking from the Hanover Street junction towards the High Street / Worcester Road junction.

We will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum during this period and would very much appreciate your patience and cooperation during the completion of these works. Pedestrian access to businesses and properties will be maintained, however vehicular access will be restricted at times. If you require any special provisions please contact us for assistance. Please be aware that emergency vehicles will be given access should they require it.

The works being undertaken today consist of tarmacing the area of carriageway where we removed the existing 'table top'. We shall also be adjusting ironwork and excavating kerbs.

Our works planned for tomorrow will involve removing the existing build-outs, excavating kerbs and re-installing them on the new kerb line.

Worcester Road, Bromsgrove - Preparatory Footway & Carriageway Works

We will be carrying out minor carriageway and kerbing works, in preparation for major footway improvement scheme, which is due to start in early January 2014. These works on Worcester Road are being undertaken on behalf of Worcestershire County Council and are programmed to start on Monday 2nd December and to last approximately 7 days.

The preparatory works involve removing the traffic calming table top junction at Station Street / Worcester Road and removing the build-out and installing new kerbs at the junction of George Street / Worcester Road.

The road will remain open for access and we will endeavour to keep any disruption to a minimum, we would appreciate your patience and cooperation during the completion of these works. To assist us in carrying out these works please do not park in the areas where cones or barriers have been installed to prevent parking. Please be aware that access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. If you require any special provisions please contact us and we will do our best to assist.
